Dublin, Ireland (June 17, 2024)

As decarbonization accelerates in many parts of the world, local energy communities and consumers are assisting in the energy transition. In the Dingle Peninsula, Dublin-based non-profit energy R&D institute EPRI Europe and four other Irish institutions are leading a pilot that is testing tools to assist in the reliability, flexibility, and security of the local energy system.

Delft, The Netherlands (June 3, 2024)

The third General Meeting of the HVDC-WISE project consortium was held at the TU Delft facilities in the Netherlands on May 28th and 29th. The meeting focused on the progress and results achieved in each work package (WP) and the development of use cases.

The AGISTIN project has joined the sister projects i-STENTORE, SINNOGENES and 2LIPP to launch a monthly series of collaborative Energy Talks, poised to foster knowledge exchange and networking within the energy landscape. These Energy Talks will serve as hubs of innovation in the energy field, where participants can delve into pertinent topics, exchange best practices, and explore emerging trends.

HVDC-WISE participated in EPRI European Workshop Week held in Lisbon from April 16th to 18th. Representing the project, Paul McNamara from EPRI Europe engaged in the workshop “How to Accelerate Transmission Development: The Need for Speed” on April 18th.

The HVDC-WISE project aims to leverage the full potential of HVDC technology to enhance the Resilience and Reliability (R&R) of hybrid AC/DC transmission systems. At its core, HVDC-WISE endeavours to address critical challenges in effective planning and operation, identifying AC/DC grid architectures that can bolster system reliability and resilience. Central to the HVDC-WISE is the proposition of new reliability and resilience (R&R)-oriented network planning and analysis tools.
